Paul Steele on Hiking and Clean for Confidence (video) 1

Hiking is a pastime that demands methodical preparation and having clean equipment gives me the confidence boost to walk further and climb higher, safe in the knowledge that I can rely on my kit to look after me.

I walk, I hike, I climb and all the world over. Having my kit ready for any occasion or weather lets me concentrate on enjoying the world around me without distraction. You can hear my thoughts and more in this documentary film by BAFTA-nominated director Gary Tarn, presented by Kärcher UK.

In fact I know it is not just me that believes that having the clean and ready kit for what I do creates a confidence to get out and push on.

New research reveals that the act of cleaning improves confidence in sports, with four in five sportspeople (81 per cent) saying that they have a more positive frame of mind when using newly cleaned sports equipment compared to dirty.

The study by Kärcher, the world’s leading cleaning technology company, asked over 1,000 professional and amateur sportspeople about their relationship with their kit.

Over four in five cyclists (86 per cent) said a clean bike resulted in a more confident ride, 90 per cent of runners said they felt better running in clean shoes rather than dirty, and even more surfers (93 per cent) said a clean board led to increased confidence when riding waves.

The Kärcher OC3 Portable Cleaner is something that I always have in the boot of my car when out on my travels. It is perfect for me being on the go!

I charge it, fill it and off I go, ready to clean my kit, and the dog straight after an adventure. It is very portable holds 4 litres of water and the pressure from it is 5 bar, which makes it great for washing down the boots, dog, tent and much more.

No more travelling around with muddy kit. For all the lovers of other sports and pastimes it is also perfect for cleaning down bikes, surf boards, muddy cars and of course pushchairs and wheelchairs for example.

My kit is ready, my kit is clean, time for new sites, new miles, new adventures.

Wow, what a coincidence. I saw one of these cleaners just the other day in a store near where we live here in Osaka. I thought at the time – ‘that looks a great cleaning apparatus’ – I think you have convinced me to get one.
I also like your thoughts on the outdoors. I share the same sentiments.
