a York sunset from lendal Bridge

Sunny evenings, the most wonderful time I find to take the dog out on a walk and run around.

The sun is setting and the sky is turning wonderful colours with oranges, blues and purples. It has been a relatively dry Summer so we were treated most days to this colourful marvel.

The outskirts of York had been my home a while now and my gosh do I enjoy wandering all around. From the City to the countryside.

The view from Lendal Bridge (both above) stops many people in their tracks if they are passing over during a nice sunset. Near to York Minster and the historic city walls. But you know me, I love to venture, venture out in all directions and you can find beauty on any walk.

The River Ouse, that passes through the city stretches upstream to the North and is an area of extreme peace and tranquility. Paths run for miles and miles beside the river and the further you go from the city you get a real sense of calm and quiet countryside. Sunset time brings with it some fantastic reflections with colour.

There are so many spots I have found to watch the sunset, and I am more than sure there are much more to find. It goes to show that hills and valleys are not needed to give a sense of awe, and nor do I feel the need to take my camera every day. Of course it is best to get out, wander, and enjoy the moments.

From cityscapes to wheat fields, from historic monuments to riverside and from country lanes to streams, York and the surrounding area brings out some amazing views. There are miles of pathways and history in heaps to be found. I am very much looking forward to exploring more! And sharing of course 🙂
