Situated within the vibrant streets of Nottingham lies Soulville Steakhouse. A culinary gem that transforms every meal into an unforgettable experience.
From the moment you step through its doors, you’re greeted by an ambiance that’s warm, effortlessly stylish, and deeply satisfying.
Our family birthday experience was absolutely brilliant. It was our youngest sons 23rd birthday and we had the best time combined with the most delicious food.
We chose a three-course option which turned out to be a great decision.
Whether you’re a devoted steak lover, a fan of soul music, or simply someone who values friendly service, Soulville has everything to make your evening sparkle.

A Symphony of Sear: The Steak Selection
Soulville Steakhouse elevates the art of steak to a new level. Their menu presents a tempting array of prime cuts, thoughtfully curated to cater to both the traditionalist and the adventurous diner. Imagine sink-in-tender rib-eyes, perfectly marbled and bursting with beefy flavour; succulent sirloins that boast a rich, buttery finish; and filet mignons so tender they practically melt on the tongue.

For those chasing bold, smoky flair, the dry-aged bone-in porterhouse stands out—a dramatic cut that’s deeply savoury and rich in character. Each steak is seasoned with finesse (think simple sea-salt and cracked pepper that let the meat sing) and finished on an open flame grill to achieve that gorgeously charred crust with a rosy, juicy centre.

You’ll find a range of cooking preferences easily accommodated—rare lovers enjoy that warm, crimson centre, while those opting for medium or well receive a steak still bursting with juice and flavour.
What’s more, each steak arrives plated with a curated selection of sides: velvety mashed potatoes, charred seasonal vegetables, and house-made onion rings that are crispy, sweet, and utterly irresistible.
We all commented on those amazing onion rings, so crispy and full flavoured. I also recommend the tempting dessert menu.

Soul Tunes That Hit the Heart
One of Soulville’s standout features is its dedication to sound. The moment you walk in, you’re enveloped by the warm, velvety tones of classic soul music—think Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, and Marvin Gaye.
The soundtrack sets a mood that’s both richly nostalgic and joyfully uplifting, weaving through the atmosphere like a golden thread.

On select nights, Soulville brings the soul to life with live performances—powerful vocalists croon with passion, occasionally accompanied by horns that add a spirited flourish.
These musical evenings create a small yet potent magic, where the harmony between food and melody feels almost celebratory.
Even on evenings without live acts, the curated playlist ensures the soul never fades, striking the perfect balance between soothing and energizing.

Staff That Feels Like Family
Another glowing feature of Soulville Steakhouse is its staff. From the hostess greeting you with a genuine smile to your waiter offering thoughtful wine suggestions, every team member is driven by the simple goal of making your experience special.

The service is attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Ask about cooking preferences, and they’ll reassure you that your steak will come exactly how you like it.
Wonder about wine pairings? They’ll happily recommend a bold Malbec to stand up to a rib-eye, or a silky Pinot Noir to complement filet mignon.
The staff takes time to explain, to listen, to laugh, with a natural warmth that puts you instantly at ease. We chose the delicious Marques De Altillo Tinto Joven Rioja and I totally recommend it with the steak.

Behind the scenes, the kitchen team seems to share that pride. Plating is refined but heartfelt; the sides are prepared with care, and even simple details, like checking back to ensure sauces arrived at your table, reflect deep professionalism.
It’s clear that the Soulville team isn’t just working here—they’re invested in every guest’s delight.

A Feast That Feels Like Joy
Bringing together all these elements creates something more than a dinner, it’s an experience brimming with warmth, flavour, and soul.
A typical visit might begin with a shared starter: perhaps a char-grilled flatbread topped with caramelized onions and melted goat cheese, or crispy calamari with garlic aioli.
Already, you sense that every dish is thoughtfully balanced, both in taste and texture. We all chose different starters and shared between us all.
We had the cheesy garlic ciabatta with an awesome chilli jam pot, breaded mushrooms with a pot of creamy garlic mayonnaise, and the twice cooked buffalo wings extra hot and spicy.
A totally yummy and enjoyable start to our 3-course dinner. So good I forgot to take a photo.
Then, the steaks arrive, beautifully seared, aromatic, and radiant. Each bite is an exploration: the charred exterior giving way to velvet-like meat; enhanced by creamy mashed potatoes, crisp greens, and onion rings that crackle.
A sip of rich red wine adds another dimension, cutting through the richness while uniting the flavours. My husband and daughter tried the half rack of ribs, and they were an absolute delight, so tender and flavoursome, while our son and I chose steak, and oh how perfectly cooked and tender, a real treat.
All the while, soul music breathes life into the space, notes curling around laughter, conversations, and the clink of glasses.
If there’s live music that evening, you might glance up to see an impassioned vocalist pouring emotion into a rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine,” or a horn section swelling with joyous harmony.
You find yourself swaying slightly, spooning up potatoes, glancing across the table, and thinking, this is exactly how a perfect night should taste.

The Perfect Place for Celebrations – or Just Because
Soulville Steakhouse is equally suited to grand celebrations and spontaneous plans. Anniversary dinners feel elevated, enriched by the restaurant’s warmth and the soundtrack of soul.
A birthday gathering becomes more vibrant thanks to what feels like a curated musical soundtrack and plates meant to share.
I booked a table for four and mentioned our son’s birthday and hadn’t expected to be welcomed with such a special birthday table when we entered.
The manager, Sheriff, showed us to our table and wished our son a happy birthday.

Even quieter evenings— “just because” dinners—are invigorated by a restaurant culture that values good food, good music, and good people.
Whether you’re a seasoned foodie seeking the best steak in Nottingham, a music lover craving authentic soul, or simply someone drawn to places where service feels personal, Soulville checks every box.
