Wiltshire

Wiltshire is a landlocked county in South West England which borders Oxfordshire, Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire, Berkshire and Gloucestershire. Salisbury is another delightful location to explore, including its medieval cathedral.

This county is known for the megalithic Stonehenge, Avebury Stone Circle, and Salisbury Plain.

Bradford-on-Avon is a beautiful Wiltshire town that has withstood the test of time. Dating back from at least Roman times, its been through the Saxon Invasion and the Industrial Revolution and still looks just as idyllic.

The Kennet and Avon canal also provides stunning opportunities for barge holidays and walking opportunities for anyone who likes a good stroll in peaceful surroundings.

The county of Wiltshire has some amazing wildlife habitats, especially on the plains and beside the canals and riverside.

Many associate the county with the Glastonbury Festival which is certainly a fun experience for many, but there are a whole lot of places to visit filled with quiet charm and special features, such as the relaxed and quaint Lacock Village.

Lacock is an unspoiled village that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time, and Castle Combe has been called the prettiest village in England.

With plenty of fascinating places to visit, accommodation ideas and activities to enjoy, our Baldhiker authors will help show you plenty of options in the beautiful county of Wiltshire.
