Wiltshire

    • Wiltshire is a county in South West England with a depth of history and is landlocked with borders with Oxfordshire, Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire, Berkshire and Gloucestershire.
    • This county is known for the megalithic Stonehenge, the Avebury stone circles and Salisbury plain. Bradford-on-Avon for example is a beautiful Wiltshire town which has withstood the test of time, from at least Roman times through to the Saxons and the industrial revolution and still looks just as idyllic. Salisbury is another delightful location to explore, including its medieval cathedral.
    • The Kennet and Avon canal also provides stunning holiday ideas on barge holidays or walking opportunities for anyone who likes a good stroll in peaceful surroundings.
    • The county of Wiltshire has some amazing habitats for wildlife especially on the plains and beside the canals and riverside. Many associate the county will Glastonbury festival which is a real fun experience, but there’s a whole lot of places to visit that are filled with charm and special features such as the relaxed and quaint villages such Lacock Village, an unspoiled village that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time, if this is the kind of destination you’re looking for then Lacock, Wiltshire is most definitely high in that category, as is Castle Combe for example which has been called the “prettiest village in England.”
    • Plenty of fascinating places to visit, accommodation ideas and activities to enjoy in this beautiful county and our own Baldhiker authors will show you plenty of options here.
