The County of Durham, a beautiful county to travel to and is packed with history, great buildings, hills, valleys and a wonderful heritage coastline.
In the City of Durham itself you have some famous landmarks for example Durham Cathedral and castle. They are not only great buildings to visit in themselves but the views all around make it memorable. A very underestimated attractive City that can provide a wonderful break for you and your family.
Why not head to am outdoor break in the Durham Dales. A perfect way to get into the outdoors. Valleys with beautiful market towns and picturesque villages. Together with peaks and hills so worthy of walking and hiking. Much quieter than other hilly districts of the UK but not less appealing whatsoever.
The landscape of the North Pennines here, an AONB, provides walks and nature that truly astound. It is here you will find such sights as the mighty High Force or the mysterious landmark of Kirkcarrion for example.
Durham also has one of the most beautiful and dramatic coastlines to adventure along. Between the rivers Tyne and Tees you will find that the area has completely transformed from a mining past to amazing sea views, clifftop walks and gorgeous beaches. Together with amazing sea birds and wildlife. Much of the heritage can be learned too. An area that we here often head to a lot for discivery and outdoors.
