I am always on the go, always a draining a battery of some sort or other. Laptop, phone and camera etc helping me stay connected but alas quite useless to me when out and about and not enough time near a power socket. So, I have been giving a tryout to the Crosskase Solar 15 Backpack and quite frankly it’s a darn good piece of kit!

It is a great stylish and good quality, strolling, work, day out, student, school, day backpack. If camping for a few days and day breaks.. a fantastic addition to the packing list. You can tell it was very well thought through. Room for all you need for the day plus pockets to place each electronic device and the big thing, you can charge them whilst walking around using the sunlight!

What it has and what it does?

An integrated 3 Watt solar panel on the front of the bag soaks up natural light and stores the energy generated inside the internal battery. High capacity battery can charge most handheld devices on-the-go (phones, music players, GPS, pocket consoles). Speedy 2 hour charge time for many devices i.e. iPhone 4, iPod nano 6G, Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Nokia N95, Blackberry Curve.

Stores enough power to charge most devices twice over and can be used again and again, as the battery will recharge from:
• Solar power (8 hours)
• Mains power (3 hours)
• USB power connection (4 hours)

Additional battery packs can be purchased to supply even more charge to those with higher demands on battery life.

The Solar 15 doesn’t need strong sunlight to work as it also trickle charges in standard daylight or artificial light and, with splashproof material and panelling, even works in the rain! This versatility in all weathers makes it suitable for use indoors and outdoors both in the UK and abroad. Even in a dimly room with very little sunlight getting in I could see the battery charging away 🙂

I must admit to having this kit as part of my life as much as the phone now .. An integral part of my tweeting and blogging life without being stuck at home as much. It can go with me anywhere.. The long walks out with the hounds, the beach, the train, short day walks out in the country, by the pool or even those skiing holidays. It does what it is supposed to do and looks the part.
