The Gopro is one piece of kit I carry with me most of the time. Local walks or high climbs sometimes prohibit the want to carry a proper camera around or carry a backpack. The Gopro is so small it fits into my pocket very easily for those, you never know, moments. It gives me so much adaptability over the smartphone camera use. You have seen what can be done even in your own garden from the GardenCam articles so far. Of course being out in the countryside so much I come across animals small and large. Quite often...Read More
It was my final Summer living in Cumbria, but still plenty of time to keep the gardencam rolling. And yet again there was no end of surprises and variety of bird feeder visitors to light up the days. You may recall the Spring highlights from earlier this year… snow still on the ground at times and young birds tentatively.. or bravely flying in for the nuts and seed. Well Summer here brought colours upon colours, of both birds and scenery. When I post these pictures as I get them, on social media, I am often asked again how it...Read More
Recently I had the pleasure of being invited to the GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado! A huge 4 day competition and celebration of adventure sports, with lots more going on around. Music, arts and outdoor fun taking place around the events happening on the river, on the mountains and in the village. Of course all the action was taken using GoPro Hero 4s and there was plenty of opportunity to do so. Your browser does not support the video tag. As well as taking part in some adventure myself with some great people, there was plenty of time to...Read More
It has been very much an experiment that seems to be improving as I go along. Moving home has been an interruption of course but every now and then I give it a try. Set the GoPro up in various spots around the garden and see what happens. The great thing about using a GoPro in this way, rather than going for the exquisite photos with a long zoom lens, is that you get a close up with a wide angle, not just a zoom in on a bird. It gives a whole different dimension to the photos and...Read More
New toy, new kit, new perspective for future adventures. The new GoPro cameras have been announced (GoPro hero4) and the capabilities along with possibilities for my future wanderings have increased enormously, some of which I will explain here for sure. Thank you to the kind people at GoPro I have been testing them out and as you can see around this post we went straight into action around Shoreditch, London, for some adrenalin amongst the street art. It is not often you take a camera out of the box then immediately find yourself on the streets with one of the world’s...Read More
