Champagne Jacquart Brut Mosaique

Now, I am a Champagne gal, I don’t profess to know all about Champagne but I adore a glass or two of the bubbly stuff. Some varieties I prefer over others and this particular Champagne is one of my firm favourites. Jacquart came about in the 1960s when a group of grape growers realised they needed to make their own Champagne to build their own sustainable business instead of supplying grapes to the Grande Marques (meaning members of the Syndicat des Grandes Marques, a prestigious organisation composed of many of Champagne’s most famous houses). Champagne Jacquart was released in...

789 Prosecco – For The Lovers

I came across 789 Prosecco by chance when my lovely mother bought us a bottle as a gift. This particular brand I had not heard of. It is made by Mondelli Wines who also produce a wide variety such as red, pino grigo, prosecco frizzante and sparkling rose to name a few. The company was formed in 1991 and is now one of the biggest Italian wine exporters where they produce in various regions. Italians like to serve Prosecco at any celebration and it is no surprise Prosecco sales are at an all time high. The UK alone purchases...

Canti Prosecco 2016 – A Party Starter

Prosecco? Ooh go on then, don’t mind if I do! Having been more of a champagne fan in the past I find myself purchasing more Prosecco these days. It seems to be that bit more palatable for some who are not wine fans so we can meet in the middle and obviously, the cost is cheaper. A little bit of Prosecco history…… Prosecco is a sparkling wine (although not all Proseccos are sparkling, some are flat). It is made in the Veneto region of Italy. It tends to be sweeter than champagne. Prosecco is named after a village, a...

Lemon Meringue Cocktail

Inspired by my fondness of the dessert and having Limoncello in the fridge I gave myself the task of creating this delicious cocktail. Limoncello as you  is such a refreshing liqueur, one of the great tastes I acquired during my travels through Italy. In Italy, Limoncello is extremely popular and I am glad to say that many stockists and restaurants around the world now sell this zingy liqueur in drink or dessert form. It is sometimes nice to have something special to offer guests when they are over for festivities such as birthdays or Christmas and I find this drink is...

Wine O’Clock: Ohau Gravels Sauvignon Blanc

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. A firm favourite in this household, a perfectly refreshing way to wind down after a busy week. Therefore it is always great to find time to review a wonderful bottle of it and thanks to Sustainable Wines for sending through this bottle of Sauvignon Blanc Ohau Gravels 2014. This award winning wine comes from a very new wine region of New Zealand, in the Horowhenua region of the lower North Island. And before we give our take and thoughts here is the description given on the website for this wine: Aromas of fragrant blackcurrant and...

The Spirits of New York

One of the joys of fall in upstate New York is apple picking time. New York is a huge exporter of apples, with a multitude of orchards that offer “pick your own” apples. We’re fortunate we can enjoy an apple picked right off the tree, hot apple cider, apple cider donuts, apple pie, apple…well, you get the idea. What I wasn’t aware of and learned in my travels today, is two things: first, that those same apples can be used to make vodka, brandy, and Applejack, and second, that those spirits were being made right here in New York!...
