I spent the weekend watching the Total Warrior event at Shap Abbey in Cumbria. The event is billed as one of the most extreme 10 km event in the world. The Saturday course is a 10 km race but with 25 punishing obstacles around the course to test the fittest amongst you! A Cumbrian terrain, 5 river crossings and 25 obstacles en route with names like The Human BBQ, Claustrophobe, Ball Breaker, Dunking Time and Muddy Funster… you can imagine!
If that is not enough for you then the Sunday event is 10 miles. Some Total Warriors (idiots?) do both!
I have to say when I heard about the event I did think it would only attract the hard core extreme adrenaline junkies – but there we a good cross section of people taking part – running clubs, fittest clubs, corporate teams etc. The whole event was a right laugh to watch – brilliant entertainment. There were a fair number hard core adrenaline junkies as well. Many were raising money for charities, Help for Heros seemed to be a very popular charity.
I definitely feel a BaldHiker team being formed for next year!
