After the flying around above the island yesterday the stage was set today for getting in and on the ocean. I have made many friends here already and it was wonderful to set sail with them out on the ocean at sunset.
We were on not any ordinary sailing vessel but the luxury of the Ali’i Nui. Cocktails, fine food and a fantastic crew that treat you to a sunset you will never forget. Sailing off, chasing the sun as it lowers to the horizon of the azure waters of the South Pacific. Truly unforgettable and even more special as it became the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. The skipper and the crew have taken so much effort to make sure you enjoy every single minute aboard. Special!
Another big surprise was the gorgeous birthday cake made by the pastry chef of Fairmont Kea Lani, Ricky. Thanks so much it was darn delicious!
This was all after getting in the water earlier for a 3 hour Kiteboarding lesson courtesy of The Kiteboarding School of Maui. Always wanted to try this and is as fun as you think if not more. Under the guidance of my excellent instructor Raquel I was first taught the way to control the kite and once mastered it was time to get in the ocean dragging in and out, over the surf and letting the wind and water take you. I have so much got the itch to go and do more. Fun fun fun!
Phew what a day. Perfect. Tomorrow? A change of hotels to another part of the island and a bike ride all the way down a volcano! Super!
