Mexico – A Stunning Sunrise Over The Caribbean Sea

Watching a sunrise is a wonderful experience wherever you are. But to see the sunrise over the Caribbean Sea from Mexico was an experience I shall not forget in a hurry that is for sure.

After all the sights, adventures and exploration this week in Mexico’s Riviera Maya it came to the final day.

Caribbean Sunrise

It would have been such a shame to be staying on this East facing coast on a most gorgeous sea if I had missed the sunrise. So, early start it was, nip to the beach, sit on the white sand, wait and….. up the ball of fire came.

It bookended the end to a great time in this fabulous country. It was November so we had been so lucky with the weather. We could so easily have had huge storms upsetting the proceedings. On the last morning I decided it was time to set an alarm early. Head out the hotel door and sit on the beach to watch the sunrise.

Where On The East Coast?

I was situated South of Cancun, not far from Playa del Carmen. White sand under my feet and as it was so early there were not many other people around at all! Perfect.

In many ways sunrises can be better moments than sunsets. When the sun rises early it leads to less people and more tranquility. Less noise, just yourself and nature. In fact wherever I travel to I do relish the moments if there is an East facing coastline to watch the sunrise. It will become a thing for me I am sure about it.

The Colours of a New Day

The new day was starting. The sky was turning a firey red and orange. The sun looked especially huge. Rising up as if out of the Caribbean Sea itself. It is the same sun as home of course but so many factors taken into account like temperature, closeness to equator, cloud formations, the wind. Watching a sunrise in a hot foreign land can be so much more romantic and special. Very different.

We can see sunrises every day it is not cloudy from wherever we wish. But this one will remain in my mind. Something special. Thank you Mexico.
