Tenerife – Out By Boat For Cliffs and Dolphins

tenerife-3-068

A day to rest the feet a little and catch a boat for a different kind of adventure. Time to see a bit of Tenerife…. from the waters surrounding it. All aboard and along the coast we went, west and north. Then, before our eyes came a dramatic sight, the giant cliffs of Los Gigantes! Sheer cliff faces rising out of the sea, rising 500 – 800 m in parts. Necks were straining I can tell you.

A little further on came a memory of yesterdays hike, the bay of Masca, I had walked down the ravine to where it lay, now it was time to see it from out on the waters at its wonder. On the boat we had a treat here, the back of the boat opened, a waterfall started flowing from the top of the boat and we got a chance to jump into the blue water and swim with the fishes. The boat also had a glass bottom so the fish could be enjoyed whilst sat inside too.

After drying off it was engines on and out on a dolphin safari. Many have seen dolphins entertaining in parks and zoos but to see them swimming around wild and free in their groups was mesmerising. A big treat was to see a baby one keeping close to its mother. Great memories.

This boat trip is available to all in the southern resorts and I highly recommend it. You can book through most hotel receptions and a coach will pick you up and drop you off. Enjoy.

  1. Paul, what an breathtakingly beautiful part of the world. You capture the the essence of the area with your stunning photography and descriptive words. You know how much I love dolphins. The pictures of dolphins swimming free and safe are just so heartwarming. Dolphin babies are totally dependent on their mother's protection and training for the first two years of their lives. Dolphins are very close to humans and they stay with their family pods all of their lives. Thank you my friend for sharing this magical moment with us. hugs x0x
